Editale Mobile — Editale · Brest
Prototypes and a design system for the Editale mobile app. Parallel iOS and Android support from a single source of truth.
Headline metric iOS + Android Single design system
Context
Editale is a small Brest-based studio that builds mobile apps. At the time of the project, the team was running two iOS apps and starting Android development for their flagship. The design source was a pile of separate Figma and Sketch files of varying actuality.
Problem
iOS and Android decisions diverged: different icons, paddings, motion patterns. Each new app started by copy-pasting the previous file. Handoff took weeks and a separate meeting per screen.
Role
I owned the design system and the prototypes for the first Android app, while supporting the iOS team with component consultations.
Process
- Audit. Pulled every live screen into one file, identified 28 repeated components, found 5 different buttons playing the same role.
- Foundation. Colors, spacing, type, icons in a single file. Documented
iOS-only/Android-only/sharedboundaries. - Prototypes. Click-through prototypes for Android in Figma plus motion specs (timing, easing) for engineering.
- Documentation. A short README in Notion: how to add a new component, how to fork the system for a new product.
Outcome
- One source of truth for both platforms.
- Handoff time: −40% by the team’s self-reported estimate.
- The system became the template for the studio’s next internal products.
